We are organising another special run in Budapest – this time a free 20 k run to mark the 20th anniversary of Hungary’s accession to the European Union.

Participation is free of charge, but registration is required!

 REGISTRATION TO THE “20 YRS – 20 K” – EU RUN

The start, the finish and the award ceremony will take place in Szabadság Square, the venue of the Europe Day festival, on Sunday, 12 May 2024.

  • Assembly and warm-up: from 9.30am
  • Start time: 10am
  • Location: Szabadság Square (start and finish)
  • Distance: 20 k for solo runners, 3×6.7 k for relay teams (relay exchange zone: area between Nádor Street, Zoltán Street and Steindl Imre Street)

The 20k course can be completed by solo runners (3 laps) or relay teams of two (2×1 lap + 1 lap) or three (3×1 lap). The first members of the relay teams are allowed to continue running after passing off the baton and complete the second and third lap. Their results will be evaluated among the solo runners, as well.

Every finisher will receive a unique souvenir, a commemorative medal symbolising Hungary’s 20-year membership in the EU. After the race 15 valuable prizes will be raffled off among the finishers.

In 2024, we celebrate the 20th anniversary of Hungary becoming a member of the European Union. For this reason, along the route images of 20 emblematic EU funded projects will be displayed, one each from the 19 counties and one from the capital.
